MISS UNIVERSE ORGANIZATION PARTNERS WITH COVERGIRL COSMETICS
OFFERING THE PUBLIC A FIRST-TIME-OPPORTUNITY TO HELP CROWN MISS TEEN USA

New York, July 13, 2005 - Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization, announced
today that the Miss Universe Organization, producer of the internationally
distributed MISS USA®, MISS UNIVERSE® and MISS TEEN USA®
Competitions has partnered with CoverGirl® Cosmetics to execute
a mutli-layered marketing campaign, making the beauty product giant
an integral part of Miss Teen USA® 2005.
"Our partnership with CoverGirl has exceeded all our expectations," said Shugart. "The enthusiasm and interest it generated online at Miss USA in April was unprecedented. We are expanding on that success at Miss Teen USA with creative elements that engage the viewer and involve them even more. "
The Miss Universe Organization and CoverGirl partnership includes several elements:
- "Virtual Judge:" As with the Miss USA 2005 Pageant, www.covergirl.com will feature exclusive photos and interviews with all 51 MISS TEEN USA® contestants which the general public will have the opportunity to vote on July 29th through August 3rd helping to determine the Top 15 semi finalists, which will be announced during the live telecast on August 8th.
- Scholarship: Viewers will then have the opportunity to award one of the Top 15 semi finalists with a $5,000 scholarship, provided by CoverGirl®. During the live telecast of MISS TEEN USA® 2005 the general public may visit www.nbc.com and hear each of the Top 15 finalists describe why she deserves the $5000 CoverGirl® scholarship. Results will be announced on www.nbc.com the following day.
- CoverGirl Celebrity Judge: In addition to the "virtual judge" and scholarship elements, CoverGirl® spokesmodel and winner of "America's Next Top Model," Naima Mora, will judge the live telecast on NBC on August 8, 2005 (9PM ET/Delayed PT) live from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- Sweepstakes: The final element
to the MUO/CoverGirl partnership is a sweepstakes. July 29th through
August 12th all visitors to CoverGirl.com will have the chance
to enter to win one of two Grand Prizes and additional prizes
listed below:
